FAQ
- What age is my child eligible for a Youth Checking Account?
- You can help your teen open a checking account at any age. As a reminder, a parent or guardian must be a joint account holder until the teenager turns 18.
- Can my teen access the Nordstrom FCU Mobile App?
- Yes. Nordstrom FCU allows members access to both Online Banking and the Nordstrom FCU Mobile App at the age of 13.
- Do you offer Parental Control in the App and Online Banking?
- Parents have the ability to view account balances and transfer funds in/out of the accounts. Both the adult and the teen also have individual access logins for Online Banking, and each will have access to set up account alerts. Alerts can be set up to let one or both receive text messages when an account balance is low or has reached zero, or when certain types of transactions take place.
- Can my teen use Tap to Pay or Digital Wallets?
- Yes. Teens can use the contactless feature of the debit card as well as add their debit card to a digital wallet on their iPhone, Android or Samsung device with parental permission.
- What happens to the Youth Savings and Checking account after my teen turns 18?
- After your teen turns 18, their Youth Savings account will automatically convert into a standard Nordstrom FCU Primary Savings Account and will earn the interest rate published at that time. Their checking account will convert to an Easy Start Checking account. The parent or guardian can remain as joint or be removed any time after the age of 18.
